Back to School
Exhausted.
I mean really exhausted.
I’m trying to live from a place of joy and somehow trying is enough.
Right now, I’m utterly exhausted emotionally and physically and so joy is not my ‘go-to’.
Back to school is always a season of change. But this year it’s more so, not just for me but for many people.
I’m giving myself permission to try and not always succeed. It is enough to aim toward something and not get it right on the first try or the twentieth try.
“I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 3:14, NIV)
So I’m trying. I put on praise music and attempt to sing along. Am I doing great during this time of extreme exhaustion, frustration, and anxiety with change? No. But I’m not settling. I know as I continue to press in, God will assist with the breakthrough.
Joy will be restored in earnest.
“Restore us, God Almighty;
make your face shine on us,
that we may be saved.” (Psalm 80:7)
Back to school and so many complications and issues don’t have to reduce us to tears. We can choose joy and act in a joyful manner. Even if we aren’t there yet. Even if we fail. Trying is enough.
The Lord is delighted in us even when we aren’t delightful.
Prayer for you me: Lord Jesus, thank you for loving us the way You do. When we are unlovable. When we forget who we are and forget who You are. When we let circumstances push us around. Thank You that You delight in us. Thank You for holding us up. We acknowledge we need You in this time of change. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
