God has more for us

castle beneath a starry sky

I saw an ordinary house that was quite plain. The only thing unusual was that it had enormous windows, and they were wide open with no screens to protect them. I then saw extending from the house downward thousands and thousands of feet of a castle beneath the house that had intricate stained glass and wrought iron windows. Ornate carvings throughout the structure were both intricately and beautifully created.

I asked the Lord, “What does this mean?”

“Many people live in the house instead of the deep things of the Lord. They forsake the righteous, glorious things to operate in the common things. The house has a few rooms with walls to protect itself, but wide-open windows that offer no protection from outside. These windows are the eye gate, ear gate, and mouth gate. What should be closed to ungodly things are open. There is no discernment between what is good and what is evil. Through what they watch, hear, and speak about, they receive things they should never open themselves up to.”

This sent a shiver of conviction through me. I realized all the things I needed to shut the door or rather window to in my life.

“What is the castle under the house about?”

“The rooms in the house are for food, sleep, and survival. The castle is for creativity, exploration, wonder, and delight. Here there is true freedom and peace without end because of godly safety rails and boundaries in place. Here there is true rest because of protection. There is a total lack of need to perform to receive love.”

It became apparent to me that what flows from us when we operate from the castle way of living is peace filled. We work with wisdom that abounds because of His presence and influence. God divinely orchestrates our decisions when we operate from that deep abiding spot. When this happens, everything that flows from us is as straight as an arrow because of the righteous boundaries given.

Do not operate from a place of performance to please man and/or a drive for survival, but operate out of the place that the Lord has designed for you. To walk in complete freedom and in the fullness of the purposes He has for you.

Don’t leave yourself stuck in the common survival place but fully explore all the Lord has for you within the safety of His righteous boundaries.

God has more for us.

Are there times that you are just trying to survive? Not really considering the beautiful things that the Lord has planned for you but just keeping your head above water.

I know I get stuck in survival.

It’s so easy to get trapped in the common things of life and not consider that God has more for us.

·         Distractions abound

·         Many people need us and expect things from us.

·         Our very routines keep us stuck.

Consider doing something to break from your routine. Something as simple as walking in a new location you’ve never been. Or try watercolor, or listening to another genre of music. Something to break you out of your common and once you’re there in this unexpected place, ask the Lord what He has for you. Not what you’ve always done, but what He’s dreamed of for you.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”—Ephesians 2:10

Prayer for you and me: Lord, thank You that Your mercies are new every morning. Your plans for our lives far exceed survival-mode. You desire us to walk in the fullness of what You have planned for us. Contemplating this is thrilling. Help us get to a place where Your voice is louder than the world's. So that we might live for You. In Jesus’ name. Amen
